Am I Being Kind Enough?

Every day I am amazed at what He does and who He uses to be an extension of Himself. Life’s journey brings us across the path of many, and as we reach out to others, it is wise to be conscious of how we would want to be treated and remembered. I often catch myself as I react with others thinking, Is this how I want to be treated. Then I become very attentive as I say to myself, Is this how I want God to treat me? That is a sobering thought and constant guide as we relate to others. “Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31 NIV).

Are we listening? Are we rushing? Are we really concerned? I sat with a young man today who thanked me for speaking into his life years ago. When I got home, I realized that some things he had said to me were speaking into my life. It was pleasant to know that God kept His Word in that I was able to reap some kindness I had sown many years ago. I pray we will always be ready to be Christ to someone, always ready to love someone, always ready to lift one another in the hope of God, and always ready to encourage one another in the grace of God, to become more like Him.

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

— Romans 12:10 NIV
